Mr. Yao Dixiong was born in Urumqi in 1949 and became the first Chinese artist supported by the Australian government. Mr. Yao is currently the chairman of Australia-China Indigenous Arts Research Association, director of China horse culture and Arts Academy, honorary fellow of The Russian Academy of Arts and the honorary chairman of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Artists Association. Mr. Yao has been granted the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Gold Key Award for Outstanding Contribution to Arts by US World Biographical Association of Celebrity and been selected as Outstanding Artist of the 20th Century by the International Biographical Centre of Cambridge, UK.
